I’ve been guilty of it too. Taking on too much, making too many commitments and being too busy.
I’ve made an important discovery about why I love scuba diving so much. It’s because it allows me to disconnect from social media, my smartphone and busyness.
Because when you’re 100 feet down and relying on a tank of compressed air to breathe, you really need to focus on being in the moment. Not work, not personal problems, not anything else.
These days, I accept fewer invitations, carefully consider whether I really want to volunteer for something (and graciously decline when I don’t) and keep large swaths of my schedule open. In case I feel like going for a bike ride, playing with my camera, writing blog postings or doing nothing.
I encourage you to try it.
